How to Treat Diarrhea

Stay Hydrated

  • Drink plenty of clear fluids to prevent dehydration caused by diarrhea.

  • When traveling abroad, remember to drink only bottled beverages, as tap water may be the cause of your symptoms.

Other tips

  • Avoid caffeine, alcohol, and dairy products. These types of things can actually worsen your diarrhea.

  • Avoid triggers

Try controlling symptoms with an OTC medicine

To control your diarrhea you can take an over-the-counter anti-diarrheal, like IMODIUM® LIQUI-GELS®. To control your diarrhea plus gas symptoms try IMODIUM® Complete. Please refer to product labelling before use. If symptoms get worse or diarrhea last more than two days, stop use and seek the help of a healthcare professional.
