Mind and Body

Your mind and body are linked together in a complex system of interactions, and sometimes the results can affect your digestive system. Stress and anxiety from nerves are a leading cause of diarrhea.

Most people have experienced nerves and anxiety, which triggers adrenaline - the fight, flight, fright hormone - among other chemicals. This in turn speeds up your nervous system, which can speed everything - including your intestines - up. And sometimes this can result in diarrhea.

You can also do things to manage stress and anxiety in your life:

  • Lead a healthy lifestyle
  • Take limitations as they are and don't exceed them
  • Stay away from unnecessary conflict
  • Manage your time effectively
  • Look at things from other perspectives
  • Don't deal with your problems with alcohol, caffeine and nicotine
  • Enjoy the people in your life and find time for them
  • And most importantly, relax and recharge
